New project with NorthWestBio GENOMIC AND PHYSIOLOGICAL LEGACY OF POLLUTION on TROUT

Congratulations to new student Jacob Tietsort who will begin in October as a NortWestBio funded PhD student on our project FROM MOLECULES TO POPULATIONS: THE GENOMIC AND PHYSIOLOGICAL LEGACY OF POLLUTION ON FRESHWATER FISH. This project studies the genetic and epigenetic impact of pollution on brown trout (Salmo trutta), the relationship between environment and genomic adaptation, and the functional consequences of habitat degradation and improvement for biodiversity.

Jacob will be lead supervised by Michelle Bellingham (ecotoxicology) and work with our team on the epigenomics and genomics and trout biology. He will also do a funded internship with Clyde River Foundation, collecting and monitoring brown trout populations in the catchment and gaining transferrable practical skills in field and fish research.
